Our Love Story Linkup

I'm linking up with From Mrs to Mama to share our love story with y'all!
1. How long have you & your significant other been together?
We started dating in December of 2010, so a little over two years.

2. How did you meet? {What's your love story?}
Okay, here is the short version...

I met Jonathan in six grade {1998} when he changed schools.  So we have known each other since we were 11. We were always great friends all through school, we had lots of classes together, & were both officers in our school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

I always thought he was a great guy & SUPER hot. And he says he had a crush on me all throughout junior high & high school. However; we never dated until 2010.

Why?
He will tell you its because he was too shy to ask me out & he also says I was never single for him to have a chance. haha I would say, he never acted like he wanted anything more than friendship, so I had no idea he had a crush on me!

Well, fast forward to 2010. We had both just gotten out of relationships. I was on facebook one night & noticed he was single :) So, I sent him a message just to catch up. Well, facebook messages turned into text messages.  Texts turned into phone calls. Then we decided we should hang out!

We knew VERY quickly that this was it. We would be together forever. He told me he loved me after like two or three weeks and then we started talking about marriage. We got engaged after seven months of dating, then we were married nine months later.

And that's our little love story. :)

3. If married, how long have you been married?
We have been married exactly 9 months today! Happy 9 months, love :)

4. If you are married, here did you get married? Big or small wedding?
We got married in the church I grew up in {the same one my parent's were married in} in Somerville, TN. Our wedding was pretty big, but nothing crazy!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
Usually we call each other baby or babe. And sometimes...baby cakes. haha
He also calls me Minnie Mouse a lot because of my love for Disney & my pink Minnie Mouse pajamas!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. His strong relationship with Christ-so thankful for a husband with a heart for God.
2. His beautiful heart-he is the sweetest person I've ever meet! He is so kind to everyone he meets!
3. His love for me--He always shows me how much he loves me! I'm so blessed to be his wife!

7. Tell us how he proposed?
He took me to dinner at The Butcher Shop. When we got back and walked into my apartment there were roses everywhere & my favorite love song {Today by Joshua Radin} was playing in the background. Then he got down on one knee & asked me to be his forever :)

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day or strawberries, champagne, & rose petals?
He is a flowers & cupcakes type. Cupcakes>champagne! :)

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop in a movie and relax on the couch?
Both! But since we don't live near the beach, I will have to say movie & couch.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything or go anywhere?
I would love to relive our honeymoon! It was definitely the best week of my life!
Another week at Disney, just the two of us would be amazing!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine's Day.
We are going to eat some yummy food, then watch a movie! Very simple, but so us :)

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's Day?
Nope. We decided this V-day we are just giving cards & a very small gift. $10 spending limit!
So, something small like a tasty treat or a movie!

13. Give us one piece of advice for keeping a relationship strong & full of love.
Keep CHRIST at the center of your relationship.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

During our wedding ceremony we washed each others feet.

We did this to symbolize our commitment to serve each other, just as Christ did in the book of John, chapter 13. Christ washed his disciples feet to set an example for us. As Christians, Christ has called us to serve one another. So instead of lighting candles or mixing sand during the ceremony, I wanted to do something to show our commitment to serve each other & to serve Christ.

To me, this is love. :)
