Sick Day

I mentioned yesterday I've been sick this week.
I finally went to see my asthma doctor yesterday.

I'm now loaded up on antibiotics & prednisone and was told to stay home from work today.
I'm thankful to have a day to rest & get better, but all these meds really worry me.

To my blog friends that are mommies or pregnant:
Did any of you have to take prednisone while pregnant?

This is the SECOND round I've been through this pregnancy. The first was in August.
I just pray that it won't affect the baby. The doc says that my asthma is worse for the baby than the meds, so I guess I just need to trust him and not stress.

So...I'm going to try to rest & get better.
My day will included: lots of laziness, chicken noodle soup, (decaf) coffee, reading, catching up my DVR'd shows, and maybe making a few lesson plans.

Tomorrow is Halloween and it will be a crazy day.
I know my kiddos at school will be super wound up, plus I am in charge of the Fall Festival at my church tomorrow night. It's going to be a fun, but crazy day!

Hope y'all have a wonderful Halloween!

Guess what?! 3 days until we find out Baby G's gender! :)

When I was reading up on medications you could take during pregnancy since I was so nervous about that, I came across alot of articles where women used prednisone for a variety of problems. All of the articles I read had healthy and happy babies (: So I'm sure you're in the clear. And I have to remind myself, the doctors know what they're doing so I'm sure if they think it's fine, then it is! But trust me, I understand your fears!

No I didn't take that...I'm sure If your doctor is prescribing it it's safe for the baby! I wouldn't worry about it...relax and just rest up!

Try not to worry - I'm sure that all will be well with baby G. If your doctor said it was okay, I wouldn't get too concerned about it. Babies are tough! Especially now that you are past the first trimester - you and baby should be just fine. Focus your energy on resting and feeling better! Especially with the big day you have ahead of you tomorrow!:)

I've had an ear infection for a week, but I refuse to take medicine for it. Only because no matter how safe it is if something god forbid happened to my unborn baby I would feel like it was my fault. I hope you feel better soon girl, being sick AND pregnant is NO FUN!

I had to take antibiotics during my third trimester and E was pretty healthy. I dunno about prednizone but the doctor would not prescibe it if it is harmful to the baby at all. They don't want to take chances that something could happen. Get some rest and feel better soon!

Prednisone: it's a beast, but it's safe. I have crohn's, so I have already been told that prednisone will be my medicine when I am pregnant one day (insert sad face -- I do NOT like prednisone) because it does not cross the placenta, so it is safe for babies in development. So no worries, tons of women take it and their babies are fine. Of course, no medicine is the best way, but we are not always allowed that option...

So sorry to hear you are sick! I am so excited for you to find out the gender, how fun! I am a teacher so I am slightly dreading tomorrow too, even though it will be a fun day:)

Your baby will be perfectly happy and healthy! I had to take it, I also have asthma and horrific allergies. I was having a really tough time breathing and was coughing like crazy! As much as I was terrified to take any medication while pregnant, I was suffering, bad! They actually gave me prednisone and an inhaler. And now I have a healthy baby boy! Don't stress yourself!

I actually have an autoimmune kidney disease that relapsed at the beginning of August. This required me to go on a pretty high dose of prednisone. When we found out we were pregnant a few weeks later, the very first thing I checked online was if the medicine would hurt the baby. Don't do that! lol. All the internet will do is scare you! We're seeing a specialist now and he is not concerned about the prednisone in the slightest. He said sometimes they even prescribe prednisone to pregnant mothers to help the baby develop. When we heard that we sighed a breath of relief. Hopefully you can too!
