This week...

...I decided on a pediatrician thanks to a few friends' recommendations {including the awesome KatieKubler}. I am thrilled & feel confident this is exactly who God wanted me to choose for my boy.

...I am going on my first work trip. For those of you who don't know, I have been the  Director of Children's Ministries at my church for almost a year now. This weekend I am headed to Nashville with the Vacation Bible School Directors for a VBS Preview Event. I'm super excited! {But not looking forward to spending the night away from my husband...}

...I exercised THREE times! {Four if I go today :)} By exercising... I mean walking. But still. I hadn't done ANY form of exercise in weeks. I'm quite proud of myself.

...I had my first "Honey, will you stop by the grocery store on your way home" craving this week. I wanted needed ice cream. More specifically...gelato. Which is really strange because I've never had it before. But Faith posted about gelato this week and it was all I could think about. So, Jonathan picked me up a pint of Talenti's Carmel Cookie Crunch and it was AMAZING. Mill & I enjoyed every bite.

...I lost a pound. WHAT THE HECK?! I got the scale yesterday & was shocked. I guess the walking cancelled out all the gelato I ate. I'm interested to see what the doctor's scale says I weigh at my appointment on Monday.

...I cooked dinner THREE times. I used to love to cook, but since I've been pregnant I despise it. The crock-pot was my bff this week & it made Jonathan super happy to have some home-cooked meals :)

...I preregistered us for the hospital. Way to go me for being prepared!

I'm having lunch today with one of my childhood friends, who just had her first baby this month. A sweet little girl: Harbison Grace...She very well may be Miller's future girlfriend ;)

Happy Thursday, y'all!

Class #2

We had our second birthing class last Saturday. This class was called Expectant Parents.
It was all about what happens AFTER baby arrives.

My better half practicing his diapering skill ;)

Just like the first class, we were given LOTS of great information!

Some of the topics we discussed:
-feeding (we just touched the basics since the breastfeeding class in next month)
-diapering
-bathing
-swaddling
-crib safety (no bumper pads/stuffed animals in the bed, make sure the crib sheet isn't loose, don't swaddle too tight..etc)
-choking (what to do/basic CPR)
-car seat safety
-pets & babies
-taking care of the umbilical cord/circumcision
-what life will be like the first couple of weeks (visitors, lack of sleep, the importance of date night, etc)

& that's just a little taste. It was a three hour class FULL of baby talk!

After leaving each class, I feel more prepared. :) & not only that...they are REALLY fun too!

Baby class+lunch=an awesome date with the hubs :)

It really is a great time to bond with your significant other!
I can't even tell you how full my heart was to watch Jonathan practicing swaddling & diapering.
I cannot wait to see him with our son. He is going to be an amazing father. :)

60 days until Miller's due date!

Birthing Classes

I've gotten lots of comments asking if I thought the birthing class we went to last week was worth it.
So, let me tell you what I thought :)

When I entered my third trimester, I started getting nervous. Nervous about childbirth. Nervous about doing everything right when the baby arrives. Nervous about breastfeeding.

This is my first baby, so being nervous is very common I'm sure.
So, I decided to calm my nerves I would be as prepared for the arrival of our baby boy as I could.

There is a lady at our church who is a baby nurse. For weeks, every time I saw her she would ask me if I've registered for classes yet. I told her no..there was so many options. Which ones do I need to take?
Her answer: ALL OF THEM.

I always figured we would take birthing classes, but then after talking with her I was positive we should.

I signed us up for 3 classes.
1. A childbirth class.
2. An expectant parents class.
3. A breastfeeding class.

Last Saturday, we went to our first class: Childbirth.

Y'all, I learned SO much.

Here are just a few of the many topics we covered:
 process of labor
terminology/anatomy
pain management
c-sections
epidurals
induction of labor
pushing positions
what to pack in your hospital bag

We also got a tour of the hospital which was AWESOME!
I feel much better knowing where everything is & seeing what the rooms I'll be in look like.

& yes, we watched THE video.
Was it bad? Yes & no.
It was gross. I felt a little overwhelmed.
BUT, I'm so glad I watched it. Now, I know what to expect. I CAN DO IT! :)

I have to say after our first class, I am SO happy we went.
We learned so much and had a blast.
I have a better understanding of childbirth. I feel much more prepared!

We have another class this Saturday. The "Expectant Parents" class.
This class will be about infant care, safety, CPR, & surviving the first few weeks.
I'm really looking forward to it.

Then, our last one is in February. The breastfeeding class.
I'm really ready for this one, because I know ZERO about breastfeeding.

So, do I think the birthing classes are worth it?
ABSOLUTELY. If you are expecting and you can go, do it! You will leave feeling much more prepared and ready! & it's fun too :) The hubs & I had a blast!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving this onesie my best friend sent Miller.

So cute! I can't wait to see him in it!

I'm loving Chickafila's Spicy Chicken Sandwich.
Not quite as amazing as my beloved Wendy's Spicy Chick, but it is REALLY yummy!

I'm loving that this Friday night we are finally having my birthday dinner.
We had terrible, icy weather on my birthday last Tuesday, so Friday night we are headed to Texas de Brazil. I can't think of a better place to take a pregnant woman on her birthday :)

I'm loving this week's nursery project!
This dresser was my GREAT-grandmother's & we are painting it red for Miller room!
My mother and grandmother are painting it for me (they are the BEST)!
It still needs another coat, but I'm just loving it so far!

I'm loving that we have our second baby class on Saturday.
Last week's class was all about childbirth. This week's is called "Expectant Parents" and is about after baby arrives. I know we will learn a lot and have fun doing it :)

I'm loving this song.
"Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men.

I'm loving that Miller's due date is 66 days away!
I'm so ready to meet that boy!

Happy Wednesday!

This & That

Get ready...lots of randomness coming your way today...

-I had the craziest, most terrible dream last night. It was a nightmare about Miller. I went to get an ultrasound and something was majorly wrong. Not exactly sure what it was, but I remember he had vampire teeth and was measuring really little. The doctors were trying to convince me that I shouldn't have him. I know it sounds ridiculous, because obviously he isn't a vampire baby. But it was one of the WORST nightmares I've ever had.

-Even thought it feels like it's taking forever, construction is moving along with the addition to our house. I can't even begin to tell you how ready I am for it to be finished! Sheet rock is going up next week. I can't wait to have walls!

-We bought new living room & bedroom furniture on New Year's Day. BUT, it won't be delivered until the addition is complete. :( I. Want. It. NOW!

-If you haven't tried "Chobani's Bites" yogurt yet, you should.  They are the perfect size for a breakfast side or for a morning snack! So far I've tried the Raspberry/Chocolate Chips and the Carmel/Pineapple. Both are good, but the Carmel/Pineapple is my favorite.

-Miller's monthly onesie stickers came in this week & the are so stinkin' adorable. I'm not going to show them until he actually wears them. But here is a clue into their cuteness: chevron & mustaches, y'all :)

-I registered us for THREE birthing classes yesterday: Childbirth Class, Expectant Parent's Class, & Breastfeeding class. Our first one is TOMORROW!

-Speaking of tomorrow....I'll be 30 WEEKS tomorrow. Wow cow. Where has this pregnancy gone?! He will be here so soon!

-Nursery is coming right along...project for next week: paint a dresser red. I'm excited to see how it turns out!

-My 26th birthday was this Tuesday. We were supposed to go to dinner that night, but we had icy weather here in TN. So I didn't get to leave the house to be safe. I ate brownies and caught up on The Biggest Loser all day{HA! I did feel a little guilty!} And the hubs & I ate cupcakes while watching Pitch Perfect that night. It was HILARIOUS!

-Hope you have a great weekend! I'm sure I'll have some fun stories from our birthing class to share with y'all next week :)

Attention New Mommies!

One of my favorite bloggers{Katie from KATEandKUBY} has a post up on her blog today just for us first time mommies! It's called: A first time mom's guide to a baby. She has LOTS of good info! Everything from products and books to iPhone apps and post baby work out tips.

Go check it out all you first time moms. You'll be glad you did! :) Thanks, Katie!

Nursery Beginnings!

I am so thrilled to say we have finally started on Miller's nursery!

I was REALLY starting to stress about it.
I'd seen lots of soon-to-be-mommies that babies aren't due until April or May almost finished with their child's room and we hadn't even started! I knew we better get to work or I was going to go crazy!

Last Saturday, I was in major nursery planning mode.
I ordered the crib, changing table, rug, ottoman, changing pad cover, and the fabric for the bedding.

And it has all started to arrive!

The ottoman is supposed to arrive today!
The bedding fabric arrived in yesterday!
And the rug, crib, and changing table arrived Wednesday!

After teaching Mission Friends at church Wednesday night we came right home and got to work!
Or my husband got to work, while I watched, took pictures, and played music
 {Florance and the Machine Pandora, to be specific ;)}

Seriously, my husband is the best ever.
He worked ALL day long, then came home to do some electrical work on the new addition to our house, THEN he helped me with the preschoolers at church for 2+ hours, AND THEN we came home and he got right to work on the crib & changing table. All without one complaint. Oh, how I love that man. :)

I love them both and can't wait to start decorating next!

Miller,
Daddy & I got started on your room this week. We had so much fun! Your daddy is a blast and y'all are going to have so much fun together. Getting your room set up is making it all seem so real. You are coming very soon and I can't wait! I am counting down every day...{we are at 78 right now!} I am looking forward to all the fun times we are going to have in this room {and the sleepless nights}. You are going to be the biggest blessing and I already love you more than I ever thought possible. Every kick & wiggle melts my heart. I cannot wait to meet you sweet boy! :)

Gender Reveal

So..I'm REALLY late with this post.

We found out Baby Griffin was a BOY on November 2nd
and had a small gender reveal party with our family the next day.

It's hard to believe that this day was over two months ago
and that in about two & a half more months Miller will be making his arrival! :)

 {This is everyone who guessed BOY :)}

Christmas 2012 {Behind the lens}

This Christmas was one of my favorites to date.
With our family, Christmas is very casual. Food, games, Jesus, & lots of family time.
& it's the perfect type of Christmas to me!
Plus, little Miller was in belly this year. Just a kicking and wiggling the whole time.
My family loved touching my stomach & feeling him move.
Baby boy is so loved already! :)

I did a pretty job documenting Christmas this year thanks to my new Canon Rebel T3i that purchased right after Thanksgiving. I've been wanting a nice camera for a while and with baby boy on the way, I finally decided to get one.

I don't think I am in a single picture this year, but that's okay. I had a blast photographing my loved ones and I'm so excited that next year Miller will join in on the Christmas fun!
